Procedure before Testing and Cautions before and powering Up the VFD

Following point must be noted during physical checking before and after powering the drive:

1. The drive is securely mounted.
2. Verify the physical and mechanical condition of VFD.
3. Verify circuit breaker and contactor type, rating, and cabling is correct.
4. Verify the equipment data with drawing and specification.
5. Input power voltage matches drive rating..
6. Input power connections are connected and are tight.
7. All connection should be check according to approved drawing.
8. Motor and driven equipment are ready to start (i.e. No mechanical obstructions)
9. Proper grounding.
10. Confirm all push buttons, indicating lights are functioning properly.
11. All auxiliary contacts and terminals are working properly.
12. All buttons are working on the LCD, tested for local and auto control.
13. Check analogue and digital signals inputs and output.
14. Apply gradual frequency and check visually the speed of motor.
15. Control cables/ Wire insulation test @500 volt phase to ground verified.
16. Confirm parameters are programmed and ready.
17. Input power branch circuit protection is in place (ie. Fuses or circuit breaker)
18. Motor connections are connected and are tight.
19. Input power, motor and controls are each in separate conduit runs (Recommended)
20. Should know how with Ingress protection classes (IP CLASS).
